Ever wonder what happens when a sailor, windsurfer, artist, poet, photographer, singer-songwriter, storyteller, construction manager, sales manager, and occasional Cosmic Clown all find themselves living the same life?
Pull up a chair.
Hi, I’m F Kevin Wynkoop.
I’ve spent a lifetime exploring creativity, nature, and wonder through many pursuits.
In the 1970s, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico while supporting myself by running a summer house-painting business at Crystal Lake in Northwest Michigan. During that time, my artwork was commissioned, displayed in regional shows and a two-person exhibition at Albuquerque’s Mariposa Gallery, and reviewed in the Albuquerque Journal.
I’m also a published writer and photographer.
For more than twenty years, I worked in the geosynthetics industry, advancing from field laborer to project supervisor and sales manager for the Western United States. Those years taught me a great deal about people, perseverance, and business.
In the 1980s, I made a life-changing decision to return to Northwest Michigan, trusting it would provide fertile ground for discovering a deeper sense of purpose and becoming more fully myself.
Today, in addition to serving as an attendant for special-needs children on school buses, I write and perform stories, poems, and songs that explore our relationship with nature, creativity, and the human experience.
Through it all, one thing has remained constant: my fascination with and attraction to wonder.
As a lifelong student of wonder, I’ve learned that curiosity often rewards those willing to ask silly questions and occasionally look foolish in pursuit of something larger than certainty.
The poems, songs, photographs, and stories you’ll find here are field notes from daily living and my ongoing conversation with lakes, trees, clouds, and the mystery that keeps inviting us to become more fully ourselves.
So, step inside and wander awhile, if you’ve a mind to.
